Graduation Party Re-Cap

The interview in DC went well yesterday, but now I have to wait a week to find out. It's not the most GLAMOROUS position, but it would be a great start for me. The only question in my mind is if I want to continue in the apparel industry. Two of the three internships I did while in college were apparel related (Stella McCartney in the PR department & the VF Corp. in Marketing). When I was younger I was really convinced that I wanted to work in the apparel industry, but as I've gotten older (well, not THAT much older, but still...) I've been drawn to jobs that are NOT apparel related. Either way, the company is interviewing 6 more candidates this week, so we'll see what happens.

I thought I would FINALLY re-cap my graduation party! My graduation day was BEAUTIFUL and my after party was BEAUTIFUL too! The evening before graduation we set up the decorations down by the lake so that we wouldn't have to worry about it on the day-of. We made the "poof" balls that the Martha Stewart line sells at Michael's & other craft stores, but we didn't actually buy the kit, we made them from scratch (meaning tissue-paper & floral wire). We mixed those with little Chinese lanterns my mom bought at Pottery Barn a long time ago - I thought it looked FABULOUS!

We decided to do BBQ for everyone so we had pulled pork, different BBQ sauces & buns...definitely an NC thing! We also had some delicious little bites like Cowboy Caviar, a yummy crudite, broccoli salad & delicious spinach/strawberry salad. Yum!

Thanks to M.'s brilliant idea of having a Lilly cake for my graduation, my mom ordered the most AMAZING cake from the bakery that will be doing our cake for the wedding. It was completely Lilly-inspired & just BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely loved the design....& it tasted delicious too!

Many of the party guests included close family friends, my Aunt & cousins who were in town for the big graduation day, my brother & his girlfriend, my little sister & one of her friends (who was so kind to help out with the setting up of the party), & my grandmother. I really enjoyed seeing everyone & they certainly treated me like a queen with all of their kind words & fabulous gifts. Surprisingly I received many gifts that MAY resemble wedding-shower type gifts! I was given a BEAUTIFUL shabby chic mirror from a GREAT store called Summerhouse, some beautiful Lennox wine glasses, an inspirational book, a few picture frames...it's hard to remember all of them now! HA!

That evening I also received a FABULOUS new bag from my Aunt which will be perfect to use for trekking to & from work everyday. I also received a framed quote from my parents that literally made me cry! It's beautiful, & it will definitely be displayed in my room in the apartment that I eventually get! (The picture to the left is of some of the party guests...from left - Mom, Julie, Dad, M., Grandma, Me, Kathryn, C., Kristy, Aunt Jill)...(The picture below to the right - Mom & Me).

Overall the day was absolutely wonderful & certainly a day I will never forget! My mom put together an amazing party for me & I couldn't be more appreciative of all of her hard work & the help of my entire family! Love you guys!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far!
