Traditional New Years Post

I don’t typically post two times in a day, but in this case, it was necessary. After heading off to work with only three hours of decent sleep on my side I was convinced that today was going to be a long and painful day at work, but to my surprise, I had a great day! Sweet comments from other bloggers, a few quick chats with the husband and a relatively organized day of work – I feel somewhat revitalized – although I still plan on going to sleep around 9:30 tonight!

I’ve caught up on some of your blogs after taking a break over Christmas from the blog scene. Of course most of the posts today from fellow bloggers were related to
the amazing times that they had on New Years Eve and the resolutions that they’ve set for themselves for 2011. And as we all already know, the television commercials are dominated by all things weight loss and healthy eating.

I typically don’t make any HUGE resolutions for my year considering I always feel like I am growing and changing and setting new personal goals, but I actually reviewed my list from last year, and I am going to re-use as well as modify some of those “goals”. It just doesn’t feel right not making some kind of list!

1. I am going to do my best to learn and grow everyday at work. I absolutely love my
new position and I am so incredibly thankful that, with the support of my husband, I decided to leave my old position. In the short term it has been a crazy rollercoaster ride – with so many ups and downs – but I know that in the long term it is going to pay off. It was always a goal of mine to work somewhere I really loved and that goal has finally been made a reality. I look forward to everything my new position has to offer!

2. It’s going to happen again folks – the cooking promise. I know, it’s the 8 millionth time I’ve promised to keep up with my cooking and minimize the amount of restaurant dinners we consume, but very shortly I’ll be cooking for two again and I really am determined to save
money and master all things in the kitchen. In addition, I hope to incorporate healthier ingredients into our everyday eating. I have rediscovered a love of all kinds of fruits and vegetables and now I just need to do my best to remember how delicious these things are when I have a choice of French fries or sugar snap peas.

3. Run a half marathon and get back to my full daily workout routines. Originally we
had planned to run the Disney Half Marathon (which I believe takes place tomorrow!), but with me changing positions (and cities!) there was little time to train (and I had no idea what my vacation time would be like at my new job). I’m looking into my options for this year for a half marathon and I’m thinking I’m going to pick something this Spring. I’ve wanted to run one for a while now, and I can’t wait to check this goal off of my list!

4. Other than the things listed above I of course have another smaller list of “to-do’s”, but I certainly want to learn and grow in my new position of “wife” and also continue to strengthen my relationships with my family.

Cheers to a wonderful 2011!
