Tasting Like Fall: The Sweet Stuff

Fall is here, Fall is here! This week I’ve been trying my best to stretch my summer clothes with a few transition pieces, but I think that this Sunday will be the official transition day from Summer to Fall for my closets (yes, I said closets…poor M. only gets one). Aside from thinking about how my closet isn’t yet in check with the changing season, I’ve been seeing a lot of fun “fall” recipes popping up all over the internet.

We all know that the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks is back full force, and this is just adding to the fact that I am totally craving some sweet comfort foods for the season!

M.’s uncle is staying with us this week while he is in the city for a work conference/training class and so I figured I could whip up a special treat that the boys could enjoy before work today and then the rest could be brought into the office with me. Turns out these cinnamon (tons of butter and sugar) rolls really hit the spot – well, once I added on a little more butter and some delicious vanilla and orange glaze. :)

So now that I’ve conquered one delicious fall “sweet treat” (these rolls actually remind me of my mom since she always has cinnamon rolls on the table Christmas morning), I’m moving on to other delicious cooking/baking adventures. Currently on my “to make list”? I’m going to give you the rundown on all the fun Fall “sweet treats” I am dying to try!

First up, I am totally dying to make a Carrot Cake. It’s my favorite cake flavor (probably just because it’s always coated with cream cheese frosting) and believe it or not, I’ve NEVER made one! Can you believe that? This fact needs to change, because after the AMAZING carrot cake birthday cake that my coworkers had for me, I am craving a slice almost daily. It’s a problem that needs to be remedied.

Next up on the list are these Cinnamon Candied Cashew Chocolate Chunk Cookies. WOAH that's a lot of "C's" Holy moly...don't these sound amazing though? I love cashews and you never can go wrong with chocolate so these are a must try. As an added bonus, cookies are the perfect sweet treat for even the most inexperienced baker - they are pretty hard to mess up! Plus that cinnamon will give you that hint of Fall while they are baking and when you're snacking!

Here's an interesting idea. Don't love the idea of making a huge mess in the kitchen attempting the perfect candy/caramel apple? Why not try out this recipe for Caramel "Apple" Grapes. This is so clever and I am absolutely dying to know what these end up tasting like. I think these would be a cute gift or office treat...and we all know how much I like making treats for my coworkers!

We all know that saying goodbye to the Summer weather can be difficult for some, so why not hold onto a little piece of Summer while still making the transition to Fall by making this Oatmeal Cookie Chunk Ice Cream. I don't know about you, but this sounds incredible. Good thing I always have our ice cream maker's bowl ready to go in the freezer!

Want to try something a teensy bit healthier? Maybe these Crispy Apple Fries would do the trick?! They sound delicious so I can only imagine what they taste like!

And for all of you Sandra Lee fans out there who can't do without their "cocktail time" why not go for this super simple, but positively satisfying Pumpkin Pie Martini. Mmm....

I wish you all a very sweet day!
