Happy Tuesday everyone! It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here in the city, which means a nice little commute to work and a long walk with the pup after work.
I am dying to share with you all photos from this past weekend - SO MUCH wedding fun - but I haven't finished gathering all of the photos so I figured I would give a quick birthday recap and then tomorrow, be prepared for a mega post of all things Ahsley and Peter the most amazing couple.
The "birthday" celebrations started when my "roommate" for Ashley's wedding weekend, my good friend J., presented me with a box of birthday cupcakes....sadly, they took a bit of a tumble during her 9 hour drive to the wedding location, but you better believe I enjoyed them anyway. They were from one of my favorite DC bakeries so I really couldn't resist! The red velvet was divine and of course it was so sweet that J. thought about me! :)
It seems as though food may have been a bit of a birthday theme since Sunday, after the wedding festivities were all over and I had made the drive back to Charlotte with my friend, she proceeded to take me out for a birthday lunch along with another one of my favorite girls, A. It was SO fun to catch up with these two, especially since it had literally been an entire year since we really all sat down to catch up. We enjoyed a junk food lunch at Pinky's in Charlotte and of course I loved their pink and green menu theme. I also may have eaten my weight in fried pickles and something called crab-puppies which are hushpuppies made with crab meat. Yum. Best of all though were all of the laughs we shared over that lunch - we talked about EVERYTHING - work, love, life in the "real world" and of course a good amount of girly gossip (hey, we couldn't help ourselves). Immediately after lunch was over and we said our 'goodbyes' I was already missing those two....:(
L. drove me to the airport and once I arrived back in the city and set foot in the apartment M. had a nice little spread set up for me. Our Tiffany candlesticks were lit and he had all of my cards and presents all set out. Not to mention the beautiful cake plate topped with cupcakes and pink, green and white macarons!
I opened up the gifts - gorgeous earrings and necklace from my Aunt Pat and Uncle Jay, those fun gold bow earrings from M.'s parents, and the matching gold bow accented pearl necklace from Kate Spade from M.! Even my sweet sister-in-law called to tell me a fun Bloomingdales gift card was on it's way - unfortunately there was a little incident with their tech department and she may have been charged one too many times - sorry Michelle! :)
I opened one of the gifts from my mom earlier in the week, an AWESOME new shower curtain for our itty-bitty NYC apartment bathroom. I LOVE the London scene and when I opened it, I already knew what it was since I was actually considering purchasing it for myself! It's obvious that my mom and I are on the same page about all things shopping! (Please ignore the disheveled stack of towels peeking over the top of the shower curtain, and obviously, some of the wrinkles from the curtain being folded up are still releasing!) Sunday night I opened two other little gifts from my mom, fun J.Crew necklaces that will be perfect for dressing up my work outfits.
Even my little sister sent a gift! An attachment for my kitchen aid mixer....it actually has a scraper on it's side so that when you're making a batter mixture you don't have to manually scrape down the sides of the bowl - LOVE IT! My brother sent a gift card to a fun Italian restaurant in the city all the way from China!
My coworkers also spoiled me with the most delicious carrot cake (my favorite)! I enjoyed a nice big slice of this one! :) And one of two of my favorite coworkers gifted me a delicious Starbucks breakfast treat and a gorgeous bouquet of coral colored roses for my desk. Oh - and to add to the birthday feasting, one of those favorites also took me out to lunch yesterday...phew...I'm full...but I was certainly feeling the birthday love!
The most fun news of all though - my mom is coming for an NYC visit at the end of this week! I'll be taking the day off to spend all day shopping with my mom (the rest of my gift from M.!)! I can't wait to see her and of course, buy a few new things for Fall! :)
So overall, a fabulous 24th birthday complete with more food than you can imagine! :) Now I've got to think of all that I want to accomplish over the next year when I turn...eek....25!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
