How bad is this hurricane Irene really going to be? We’re back and forth on whether or not we should get out of the city. We even put a rental car on hold just in case we feel it’s necessary to drive the heck away from here. After work we planning on stocking up on some “supplies”, but seeing as we’re pretty high up AND we have a “hurricane” proof room in our apartment…I feel like we should be fine. Ehh…New Yorkers, what are your thoughts? Staying in the city or not?

You know those packing peanuts that are made from potatoes? Well, I didn’t know about them either until my husband unpacked a delivery and said, “these packing peanuts are made from potatoes and are completely edible…even though they probably won’t taste good.” Well, Thatcher decided he was in the mood this morning for a packing peanut-potato….all that was left was one little piece…I hope he survives! He also finished off that entire tiny raw-hide stick....at least it keeps him occupied while I'm getting ready in the morning.

This morning I was feeling extra spunky and decided to sport some SUPER BRIGHT RED lipstick to work. My outfit is pretty simple and I kept my hair up, so I feel like it works. I’ve been dying to try out the “bold lipstick” trend for a while now and I think it’s pretty….definitely not something I will wear every day, but I’m loving the pop of color. I’m contemplating which creamy hot pink lipstick I’ll be buying…there are a few contenders.

Said red lipstick is actually about 3,000 years old. I think my mom gave it to me (from a Clinique free gift) when I was in middle school or something. I’m sure it’s well expired, but I don’t care. Also, I wonder if Clinique even makes the color anymore…it’s called “Rainbow”. Just in case you need to see how bright it is, here it is in the tube with the rest of the beauty loot I slapped on my face this morning…I went neutral all over and just focused on the lips. Loving this minimalist routine.

In addition to the red lipstick, I also decided to sport two necklaces somewhat "intertwined" today. I've decided that I need to start wearing more of my accessories and I am officially loving my gold chunky chain and double pearl strand combo...especially against the crispness of this white button down J.Crew shirt. Love that Thatcher is poking his head under our bed in this photo....naughty puppy!

The ends of salads are always the best. In fact, it’s the one thing I look most forward to when eating a salad. All of the good stuff ends up down at the bottom. This was super random, but I guess I’m thinking about the delicious salad I had for lunch today.

I’ve got another fun baking project planned for the weekend….as long as all of our appliances work and are not out of order because of the impending hurricane. Can’t wait to share it with you!

The pink dress from Nordstrom arrived yesterday and I am in loveeeee with it. So shiny and pretty. The beads on the neckline are super sparkly too - which makes me love this dress even more.

Today I had a conversation with a co-worker completely centered around the breakfast junk food we loved as kids. One of my top contenders was Toaster Strudels and hers were the Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls from the tube. Funny how both of our top contenders come with that sweet, sugary, straight from a packet white frosting. I had the perfect method for the Toaster Strudel...take out of the freezer, put in microwave for about 15 seconds, put into the toaster for about a minute (maybe less), while strudel is in toaster warm up frosting in between hands, drizzle in a perfect zig zag pattern all across pastry after it is out of toaster, wait thirty seconds...dig in. Sad, I know.

I'm feeling pizza tonight. Anyone else up for that?!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe if you are in the hurricane area!!!!
