I miss the time that I spent there (although if I could change anything I would’ve had M. along for the entire four months) and I miss the culture. I miss the culture and the accents (especially the woman who does the announcing on the tube). I miss the amazing neighborhood I lived with the absolutely adorable children dressed in their uniforms for school. I miss the restaurant down the street where I’d order the same thing over and over and over again. I really miss just walking in the city – looking in the shop windows and observing the people walking by. Always discovering something new; a new street, a new house (that beautiful chandelier in that person’s window I only noticed because it was night time and the lights were on and the drapes were open), a new way to wear a scarf or do my hair – it was so fun just looking at everything around me.
Of course M. and I plan to visit London very soon. We both love it there (M. lived there for a little while too) and talk about it often. I have a gorgeous fashion spread from a magazine I bought while in London that is set at London’s different landmarks that I’ll have to share with you someday (I haven’t scanned it yet), but I tried to google it and instead came across these beautiful images from Segerius Bruce Photography of a couple who after getting married trekked through London (in the rain of course – figures!) for a “love shoot.” The images are simply amazing – and mark my words – someday on one of our visits to London (I say ‘one of our visits’ because I know we’ll visit many times) M. and I will do a similar shoot with a professional photographer.
I have already picked out the perfect locations for photos…
• Definitely some shots in Hyde Park
• Photos on the front steps of some of the gorgeous flats/row houses near where M. lived
• Photos on a ‘narrow boat’ in Little Venice/ or of us walking along the canal to Camden Market
• A similar shot to the one Segerius Bruce captured of the couple with the London Eye/Big Ben in the background
• Photos of us browsing vintage booths/produce stands in Portobello Market
• An obligatory phone booth shot
• Most likely a shot of us in a London Cab and possibly some of us waiting to catch a train in a tube station
• Definitely a shot near St. Pauls…or better yet, at the top of St. Pauls Cathedral (where Princess Diana was married) looking out over the city.
• Finally, a shot of us enjoying some coffee, scratch that, wine or a candlelit meal at any of our favorite London restaurants.
Aren’t these photos beautiful?! Want to see more from this photographer?! Check out his website here!
I may be longing for London, but I've also been longing for the weekend! TGIF!
Happy Friday!
