Still trying out the colours from the OPI fall Swiss collection, this time it's: Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous and Glitzerland - Love them! What is really nice about them is that 1 coat gives you a polished metallic look that is perfect if you are running out the door and need to do something fast, while 2 coats gives you a rich metallic colour - I can see these getting a lot of use by me for the holidays!
Now I'm not normally a glittery nail polish kind of girl - mostly because I hate the way chunky glitter feels - I like a smooth nail so I was pleased to discover that the two new holiday colours from the Lippmann Collection: Today Was a Fairytale and Boom Boom Pow (with real 24K gold dust inside) add beautiful shimmer without lumps! Fairytale looks blue in the bottle but the glitter is silver and I loved the effect with the OPI silver!  You can find Lippmann polished at Donato Salons in Toronto as well as Murale.

Are You Ready for the Nailympics?

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
Well, too bad you've just missed them! Held in London, the Nailympics - previously called Nail Olympics- ended last week. Apparently this competition attracted 354 contestants from 24 different countries and takes place every year! It looks nuts but at least you have an excuse not to do the dishes with those things!

There's always next year!

OPI swatches - In The Spot-Light Pink, Step Right Up! and I Juggle...Men

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
Here are three of the polishes from the OPI Femme De Cirque collection - it's a very demure batch of colours which almost remind me of wedding type shades!

In The Spot-Light Pink

Step Right Up!

I Juggle...Men over In The Spot-Light Pink - the glitter is super subtle and barely shows in these pictures, so if you like very discrete glitter, you will like this one - I didn't bother swatching it by itself as it really didn't show up on its own in the picture -  I rather like how it gave just a tiny bit of sparkle and a lot of shine!

Here are some more colour swatches from the Spring OPI Texas Collection - this time Don't Mess With OPI - forest green and Do You Think I'm Tex-y? - berry.  I again found that some of the colours really show more of the sorbet effect then others - in this case the green was quite opaque after 2 coats while the berry wasn't and had the watery effect!  You can find the swatches for Guy Meets Gal-veston and Austin-tatious Turquoise here if you missed them.

You may remember me telling you about the 2011 Spring OPI Texas Collection and here are a couple of colours that I am loving from it:  Guy Meets Gal-veston - coral and Austin-tatious Turquoise - blue-green with shimmer are 2 of the shades with the new semi-transparent sorbet finish.
I found I got more of the "sorbet finish" with the coral coloured one because it doesn't have the shimmer that the turquoise one does.  You can click on the pictures if you want to see them bigger and that will give you a better idea of the effect.  They both make me want to go on vacation someplace warm!

I still have a couple more colours to swatch so check back in a week or two for those!  And let me know what you think of these colours!

OPI goes to Texas for Spring/Summer 2011!

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
Texas Collection by OPI - $10.95 - has a new finish - semi-transparent, giving fingers and toes a lightly glossed appearance similar to the look of icy water-based sorbet.  To achieve the desired effect, an initial coat of polish should be applied to all ten fingers first - without doubling up coverage.  Start from the pinky finger on one hand and paint through to the pinky on the other hand, then, after the first coat has dried, apply a second coat.

San Tan-tonio - honey
Suzi Loves Cowboys - chocolate
It's Totally Fort Worth It - shimmery lavender grey
Don't Mess with OPI - forest green
Austin-tatious Turquoise - blue-green
I Vant to Be A-Lone Star - sky blue
Y'all Come Back Ya Hear? - tangerine
Big Hair...Big Nails - peach
Guy Meets Gal-veston - coral
Too Hot Pink to Hold 'Em - pink-red
Do You Think I'm Tex-y? - berry
Houston We Have Purple - red violet

Available in February 2011 - what do you think of the sorbet look idea?  I'll have swatches coming up in January.
