Calvin Klein

BEAUTY is the latest fragrance offering from Calvin Klein with a new interpretation of a lily - a neo-lily - which is the heart and soul of this new fragrance.  Like the flower, the fragrance is meant to be sophisticated, the essence of femininity as well as radiant and powerful.  Adding to the neo-lily are ambrette seed top notes, jasmine mid notes and a dry down of cedarwood.

The cedarwood saves it for me from being too over the top floral - but since I'm not a floral kind of girl - I thought it best to try it out on a few friends who prefer floral fragrances to see how they liked it.  It got a big thumbs up from 5 out of 6 of them (number 6 said it reminded her of the perfume her ex-husband's new wife wears so she couldn't like it for that reason)  It invoked words like sparkling, expensive and hot date from my testers so if you are going on a hot date to a classy restaurant, this would be the perfume you will want to wear.

Calvin Klein held an event recently to introduce their new coverage level system - I knew I was in for a good time when I was offered a white rose at the door by a hottie in boxer briefs!
The girls from the blo - Blow Dry Bar at 2195 Bloor Street West were also on hand to perk up our work weary tresses - when they turned me from frizzy to sleek and fabulous in 10 minutes, I had to wonder why I don't flat iron my hair more often!  Better yet, I need one of the blo girls to come over to my house everyday and do it for me!
Other then being too short, I now really understand why I would be a terrible model, these girls were roaming around in their knickers! I have to say, it did make the new coverage level system easy to understand when you saw it first hand - Calvin Klein bras are now identified by three distinct levels of coverage - each level is differentiated by cup coverage, as well as strap and band width:  1- envy - less coverage, more revealing; 2 - perfectly fit - everyday coverage, classic comfort; 3 - seductive comfort - more coverage, more support.

Do your pets respond to your perfume? Mine are kind enough to tolerate it, but have never shown much interest.

Very Irrésistible Givenchy L'Intense - 50ml EDP $93, 100ml EDP $107 - top note of purple plum; heart note of intense rose; and base notes of patchouli and intense musk.  The first thing I did when I got in the store was head straight for this display and sprayed some on.  I knew I would like it at first because of the plum but I was curious to see how it would smell after it settled as rose is not my thing at all.  Verdict: while it was floralish, the musk helped balance it out and it was very sultry on me.  Husband's verdict: Wow! I also love the advertising campaign with Liv Tyler - I think Liv looks so striking in it!

CK One Summer - 100ml EDT $58 - with top notes of citruses, tangerine, melon and aquatic ferns; heart notes of lemon, ocean accord, blue freesia, verbena and rhubarb; and a base of incense, cedar, musk and peach. This is one fragrance that I always look forward too and the years I like best are the ones that have a lot of citrus so this one does not disappoint me!

Calvin Klein Eternity Summer For Women - 100ml EDP $72  - with top notes of lily of the valley, violet and coriander; a heart of gardenia, jasmine and lotus; and a base of musk, mimosa and fig tree. - Eternity Summer For Men 100ml EDT $72 - the top notes include a citrus mix, mint, coriander, watermelon and ocean air accord; a heart of Star anise, galbanum, and lily of the valley; and a base of cedar, patchouli and amber. I was out of wrists so I didn't actually spray this one on me, I did spray it on a tester card and it was light and floral - if anyone's had it on their person, let us know what you think of it!
And if you pick one of the Calvin Klein fragrances up, don't forget to score the GWP, they had one on display and it is super cute, this is one of those GWP's that I would buy the product just to get it!

Baby Phat Love Me by Kimora Lee Simmons - 30ml EDT $35 - with notes of tangerine, jasmine petals, vanilla blossom and sandalwood. Again, I was out of skin to spray this on but on the card, I quite liked it!

For those of you who have been missing your Calvin Klein colour cosmetics - good news - they're coming back!  Calvin Klein Inc. and Coty Inc. recently announced that they will develop and market a full line of colour cosmetics that will launch in 2012. 

I'm not sure why the line didn't take off last time it was launched, but I have faith that Coty will be able to make a go of it!  And if they would be so kind as to bring back the Cosmopolitan Lipstick, I would be ever so grateful!
