If you're a regular reader, you'll know that I absolutely adore a good bath.  So when I received a bottle of Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax bath and shower oil, I immediately stripped off and ran a hot bath (although possibly not in that order).  While I've not tried this out as a shower oil (I've not had a shower in years), I've now bathed with it four or five times, and it's slowly becoming a favourite for those tired, weary evenings.

Like many bath oils, you add a small amount to a full, warm bath.  After dosing my bath, I noticed that the oil initially stayed in a few small puddles on top of the water, but immediately after I stepped in, it dispersed evenly, leaving the surface of the bath shimmering gently with tiny specks of oil.   It isn't the kind of oil that coats the skin noticeably as you soak - I felt no greasy feeling on my skin as I lay in the bath.

The Deep Relax scent contains vetiver, camomile and sandalwood essential oils, and supposedly "promotes a restful nights sleep".  I don't usually have any trouble sleeping (in fact, I'd rate it as one of my top hobbies), so I can't say it made much of a difference to my sleep patterns, but the rich, heady scent of this oil definitely served to relax me.

Once I emerged, I was very definitely ready for bed and feeling very tranquil.  My skin was soft, but not noticeably more soft than before I bathed - I'd say that the relaxing effect of this oil is its biggest draw rather than any skin benefit, although the fragrance is a big plus, and the heady scent lingered on my skin for an hour or so after my bath.  I was very pleased to find that it didn't leave a massively slippery residue on the bath, as other oils can (which is a bit of a bugbear for me - what's the point in a relaxing bath followed by some cleaning?).

I will end this review by telling you that Sarah, who has also had a go of the oil, says that she absolutely loves it, and that it's heavenly.  So two thumbs up from each of us.  If you like a relaxing scented bath - you'll probably like this.  If you have a luxe gift to buy for a bath lover, the elegant box-and-bow packaging is sure to go down just as well as the product.

If you'd like to try it for yourself, you can get it direct from Aromatherapy Associates, or from SpaceNK online at £35 for 55ml - expensive, but a lovely luxury treat which supposedly is good for 20 baths, so not too bad.  Be advised that the SpaceNK link here is an affiliate link - should you choose to buy, we'll get a small commission.
