Of course, I'm dying to see who they will cast in this production and I've gotta say, I'm getting a little bit worried with some of the "potential" options. As in many of the comments on these news articles, it seems that a lot of people just aren't completely committed to one actress in particular simply because Grace Kelly was such an elegant and sophisticated woman - there just doesn't seem to be anyone who can "do her justice." The film is said to not be an entire story of the life of the Princess, but instead a very specific look at the period of time once she was the Princess of Monaco dealing with a "dramatic six months in 1962 when France was fighting financial haven Monaco over tax issues."
Some of the "front runners" for playing the incredible royal are Blake Lively (um - I'm sorry, but you've GOT to be kidding me), Michelle Williams (who just played Marylin Monroe so I don't think she'll be the choice), January Jones (while I love her in Mad Men, she's really not an AMAZING actress and apparently hates the comparisons she gets regarding her looks and the Princess), Charlize Theron, Gweneth Paltro, Olivia Wilde...and the list goes on.
Obviously the producers are going to go with an A-Lister for the role, but wouldn't it be nice to see someone a little more fresh!? I really think it would be fun to see a newcomer take on the role (and there are also a few rumored to be "trying" for the role - one actress who was in the short lived Playboy club on NBC) so that we're not influenced by their past roles or characters.
And if all else fails, they can always call me! :) Maybe it's a little narcissistic, but I still think someone could style me to look like the Princess. Hey, we are all entitled to our own crazy dreams, right?!
Happy Wednesday!
