I really enjoy DIY projects & I think that's one of the reasons I am so excited about planning all of the little details for the wedding -- Bring on DIY wedding projects! Until the time comes for those projects I am keeping myself busy with a few others.
By now you know I am moving to DC with my fiancee. Obviously I have been obsessing over what pieces of furniture we're going to be using for our first place together. I had a couple of canvases up in the attic so I decided to pull one down & do a little

oil painting for the bedroom. FYI - My plan for the bedroom is to focus on whites - white bedding with beige, robin's egg blue, and black accents throughout the room. All of these accent colors will probably be used sparingly, but we'll see once I get it all set up. - Anyway...I plan to do a cluster of different framed pieces for one of the bedroom walls (including the beautiful framed quote my parents gave me for gradauation). So, I pulled out the canvas, primed it with a background coat of blue & then just played around. I started out with some really intricate flowers & then decided to go a little bit more funky. I think the end product turned out really cool - the digital picture certainly doesn't do the painting justice - especially because of the texture!

While cleaning out some old boxes in my room I found a ton of old coins from all over the world. My Aunt Pat gave them to me when I was younger, so I picked some of the really cool coins

& painted an old frame a creamy white & popped them in! I thought this turned out pretty cool too! I think it will definitely look neat when put in the cluster with the painting & other pictures.
Finally, I'm painting a table I found in the trash -- actually, I didn't get it OUT of the trash, it was sitting next to the trash cans in M's apartment building when we movied him out about a month ago. It's cute, not too big, & will be perfect for next to the couch or as a little accent piece. I spend about 4 hours sanding that puppy today...I hope it looks good when I'm finished...I still don't know what color to paint it!!?!?!

I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! I'm off to make chicken & shrimp shish kabobs for dinner!
