NOTD: Homemade Glitter Polish

This is what happens when I'm slightly bored, and have access to an old topcoat I don't use anymore, and some glitter.

I more-or-less randomly poured coloured glitter from a B Never Christmas set into the bottle, gave it a damn good shake, and slapped it on my nails.

The result is a very densely packed, ultra glittery finish which, due to the fineness of the glitter I used, isn't particularly bumpy after a coat of Seche Vite. Two coats gave me an opaque glitter look.

I learned a few things along the way:
  • Using old topcoat / clear polish will make a polish with terrible, clumpy application unless you thin it out
  • A clear base with those little ball bearings in will mix more easily than a base without
  • Glitter gets everywhere on your desk if you are slightly shaky of hand
If you'd like to try this for yourself, you can get glitter from Coastal Scents, some of which is eye safe too; or from a craft supply like HandyHippo, so long as you're just using it for polishes.
