As soon as I saw this bright orange lipgloss from Barry M's new Gloss Wands range, I just had to have it. I had no idea what it would look like, how it would wear, anything. I just slapped down my £4.25 and took possession of it's little round tubular self. It's so ridiculously ORANGE. It needed to belong to me.
I've pictured it here beside a red toy VW Golf so you can see the colour contrast (NB it's not in fact a giant gloss photographed next to an actual car on some snow). It's about the colour of a clementine.
I wasn't expecting a great deal when I tried it on, but it's actually a really nice formula. It has a balm-like, non-sticky medium weight consistency. The scent is sherbet orange - it's not exactly sophisticated but it's fun and quirky (perfectly Barry M, in fact). There's no flavour. It applies with the standard doe-foot applicator attached to the inside of the lid. The packaging is solid and sturdy, and robust enough for even the most chaotic handbag. (I.e. mine.)
The real surprise is how wearable this gloss actually is. On me, it sheers out on the lips to create a warm peachy colour, doing battle with my natural lip pigment and resulting in a truce of apricot-natural glaze.
In short - I love it!
Barry M's new gloss wands range is available in several shades (most more conventional than the tangerine dream here). You can pick it up at Superdrug, or at Boots where there is currently a free limited edition gloss shade on offer for free when you spend £6.
