Speaking of the apartment...I wanted to share with you a few new things that have made their debut in our home. None that are related of course, but a fun little post nonetheless. I’m always intrigued by the way that other people live and the things that they have around their homes…so I figured, why not share a few new things of my own.
This blog isn’t named Positively Preppy in PINK for nothing…I just love the color pink. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but one of the best things about living in New York City are the cheap bouquets of flowers you can buy at any of the bodegas on the street corners. Nine dollars for this AMAZING bouquet of pink roses…I’ll take ‘em! I’m not sure this is a “regular” variety of rose simply because the petals have a sort of ruffly effect to them and they are opening up in this incredible way…and that color…oh goodness. They put a smile on my face instantly even IF there are piles and piles of clothes waiting to be put away ALL around me! PLUS this bouquet filled not one, but three vases of flowers (I've got pink roses in the bathroom, the kitchen AND the living room). I also can’t get enough of the polka dot Kate Spade vase that we had on our wedding registry. I love it.
The blogosphere was buzzing with talks of the Missoni line at Target and although I didn’t make the trek to the Target in Brooklyn, I did call my fabulous mother who proceeded to pick up these Missoni dishes for me back in North Carolina (she brought them with her on her visit two weekends ago). I’m not really a huge fan of Missoni’s clothing “look”, but I love the bright colors, so I opted for this fun “dish” set and I am totally excited to set the table with these. Thanks again, Mom for picking these up for me so I could be like the “cool kids”! :)
Speaking of nice things that mom’s do for their daughters…my mom also brought with her a VERY special surprise for me! Remember like 8 million years ago when I talked about how my bridal gown designer, Kenneth Pool, painted a custom watercolor of my bridal gown and then signed it for little old me? Well, I don’t think I ever did show you the whole “piece” because I was at the time, still trying to hide the design of my gown….well folks, here is the gorgeous custom watercolor framed in a beautiful gold custom frame courtesy of my mom. I totally love it. Now I just need to decide where to hang this beauty….I’m hoping that someday I’ll have a gorgeous walk in closet where I can proudly hang this and look at it every single day while I get dressed in the mornings…or for date nights with the hubby…or while putting on my sweatpants for a lazy weekend day…hubby do you think you can make that dream walk in closet happen? K, thanks!
See these two odd objects. Yes, they’re not really supposed to look recognizable…yet. I picked up these two special DIY projects from the office…the wiry one is actually the top to a basket that we got rid of, or didn’t end up using…I’m not really sure, but I plan on crafting it into something special. The other round black thing is actually a metal tray. It was a little dirty at first, but I plan on prettying it up this weekend. Ahh…gotta love a good DIY project!
Finally, one last “pink” item to round everything out. Today I’m sporting one of my “birthday shopping trip” purchases…a pink and gray blouse/top from Banana Republic. This normally wouldn’t be my first choice in tops, but I love the lipstick pink color and plus, it looks cute with the gray cropped dress pants I’m wearing to work today and with jeans when I want to be a bit more casual.
Have a fabulous day! Tootle-loo!
