Can you believe that it's been one year since we stood on the altar of my childhood church reciting our vows to one another? Can you believe that it's been one year
since we rode around in that beautiful vintage blue car feeling like we were on top of the world? Can you believe that it's been one year since we danced the
night away with our family and friends in celebration of our love and our new journey together?
I honestly cannot believe that it's already been a year - it all flew by way too fast and I feel like that is going to be a trend in our life together - everything will just go by way too quickly.
We've had so many changes take place in our first year of marriage, many that caused unnecessary stress, but your love and sincere support of the decisions we made together helped things go smoothly. We left our comfortable little "home" in Washington, DC and pretty much lived apart for four months while I started my new career in New York City. Eventually we were both moved into our new home in NYC and it was a welcome (but scary) change from the couch that you had been living on. You sacrificed a lot for me to make a dream of mine come true and please know that I am forever grateful.
Things haven't been too bad for you either though in this first year we've spent together. Ok, ok, you had to quit your first ever official law job, but you ended up landing an amazing position with an organization you never dreamed of having the opportunity to work for. You're now a "city guy" taking the subway to work everyday with the rest of the business men. I'm excited to see where this opportunity will take you and I know that you will make the most of it.
Of course, job changes are not the only changes that we've had in the first year of our marriage. I feel like we have really grown together in our marriage. We have learned so much about one another which I know will only make our relationship stronger.
I love how much fun we have fun together, and more than just being married, I love that you are my friend, my best friend. You always know how to make me laugh when I am sad and you know how to make me smile when I am mad. You know the way to push my buttons and you know the things that make me the happiest. When I first told my mom that I was "going to marry you," I told her that one of my favorite things about you is that you really listen to what I have to say. I know that when I talk to you I'm not talking to a wall - you
sincerely value my thoughts and I know that will never change.
I love that everyday we learn something new about one another. I also love that I have the opportunity to know you better than anyone else.
I am excited for our journey that lies ahead. We've already experienced so much in our first year together, but I know that there will be many MORE amazing times for us. I love you more today than the day that I said 'I Do' and I look forward to building our relationship with more love and even stronger friendship.
Still happy about that handshake,
Your A.
