Are You Ready for the Nailympics?

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
Well, too bad you've just missed them! Held in London, the Nailympics - previously called Nail Olympics- ended last week. Apparently this competition attracted 354 contestants from 24 different countries and takes place every year! It looks nuts but at least you have an excuse not to do the dishes with those things!

There's always next year!

Ugly Shoes Are My Drug!

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
We've already discussed how we feel about ugly shoes, but I could not resist sharing my latest findings after reading a great article this morning. This new shoe selection is even worse than anything we've ever posted before: aesthetically challenged AND expensive!
Louis Vuitton - Daisy Half Boots ($2,200)

Iris Schieferstein
Is it art? It it fashion? Who cares. It's just butt ugly!

Comme des Garçons - $743

Balenciaga - Lego heels - $4200
Of course Beyonce had to wear these heels a couple of seasons ago.
Nina Ricci - Heel-less shoes

Aminaka Wilmon  - Sole-less shoes
Jeremy Scott for Adidas - $240

Happy shopping!

Did You Take My Shampoo? Did You, Troy?

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
A friend called me yesterday to tell me she had seen a picture of a football player who had more hair than me! My friend is pretty obsessed with big curly hair as hers is fine and poker straight. Yes ladies, we always want what we cannot have! When I looked at the picture, I immediately recognized Troy Polamalu from the hilarious Head & Shoulders latest commercial. Sadly, I had to break the news to my friend: while Troy has a beautiful naturally curly mane, he was definitely wearing a wig on that picture. My friend's fantasy came crashing down. Don't thank me. That's what friends are for!

It seems that many companies are attempting to follow the Old Spice model: ridiculous, funny and therefore memorable. Some attempts are just fine like the Gilette "Clean Your Balls" but Polamalu makes me chuckle every time I watch him.

Andrew Christian has a solution for shrinkage!

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
How many times have you heard your guy friends complain about picking up some girl at a dark club, taking her home and finding out that most of what her tank top was promising turned out to be a lie thanks to the wonder of the padded bra!  Equality has finally arrived on the bar scene - purveyors of male flesh can now also be disappointed by his (lack of) junk thanks to designer Andrew Christian who is taking male underwear to the next level with his Shock Jock Briefs which come equipped with “a soft hidden cup, sculpted into a penis shape (available in black or white models), that add around 2 inches to a guy's little (soon to be not so little) friend.  No longer will the time honoured disappointed sigh that occurs when the clothes come off be just the domain of less endowed women, now men will also be able to enjoy how it feels to really let somebody down! Power to the padding!  I haven't seen them anywhere around Toronto but you will all be relieved to know that you can pick them up online at: http://www.andrewchristianshop.com/

Guys, think how much easier (and more hygienic) this will be then shoving dirty socks, cucumbers (Spinal Tap should not be providing you with fashion tips) and other assorted produce down there!

Proof that PR people smoke crack - washing machines as a Christmas gift!

Posted by follow me On 0 comments
Don't get me wrong, I love all of the wonderful PR people I deal with on a daily basis to death, they give me all kinds of great information to share with you - but every once in a while I get an e-mail that makes me LOL!  This time it was an e-mail about luxury holiday gifts - well of course I was intrigued by the title - what would it be? Diamond tiaras? Jimmy Choo shoes?  I wasn't expecting a washer and dryer!

Whirlpool Vantage has this snazzy washer/dryer pair that even has a LCD touchscreen to make getting out your stains very high tech.  The pair will set you back around $4,398.

Samsung WF520ABP Steam Washer with Power Foam and DV520AEP Front Load Electric Steam Dryer around $3,098 for the pair.

I might have able to laugh it off as a one-off except a couple of months back I went to a Samsung preview and the presenter there was trying to convince me that their washer and dryer would be great for our Christmas guide!  I asked him if it came in pink or possibly bedazzled but it doesn't so I had every intention of ignoring his craziness - until this new e-mail... Am I missing something? - are washer/dryer sets what women are really wishing for as luxurious or romantic Christmas gifts now?

Honestly, I would really love one of these pairs but if my husband bought them and tried to pass them off as my Christmas gift he would have to start deciding whether he wanted the washer or the dryer in the divorce settlement!  I have a hard and fast rule that household items do not constitute a present, they are certainly necessary and I even sometimes want them - but NOT as a present!

Of course if my husband would like to buy me one of these sets to celebrate a Happy Friday - well now we're talking!

What do you think about household appliances as a gift?  And come back later today when I will show you my picks from the Samsung preview that I think would make good presents!
