The temperatures here have really cooled off. We even had a dusting of snow on the mountains just above our city. Halloween will be here this Sunday and the houses on our streets are decorated to greet the little visitors. I have a vintage card to share with you and ...
A festive centerpiece on the table. While I brew a cup of cinnamon stick tea, stop by and visit Suzanne for Vintage Thingie Thursday.
Just think Bentley, in a few days there will be lots of kids visiting our cottage. I know how much you love to see all of your little friends!

I love this little vintage dollhouse sewing machine. The treadle moves, the drawers open and the needle moves up and down. It's a vintage mini treasure! I'm not sure, but I think it is bakelite. Whatever it is, I think it's a cutie. I'm on my way over to Suzanne's for her weekly Vintage Thingie party. Have a great Thursday!
Bentley, I have the day off. Let's have lots of fun together on this beautiful fall day!

I just love being a girl. I love vintage train cases and boudoir lamps. Silks, vintage pearls and ballerina music boxes.
Silver dancing slippers and French perfume. Photos of my Yorkies in vintage silver frames. I especially love this antique ballerina music box that my Daddy brought back from Switzerland.
Thanks for letting me indulge in my romantic dreams of things that are vintage, pink and vignette. I am participating in these fabulous parties:
Bentley ~ let's give you a bath and get you all fixed up for this evening. Bentley?? Are you hiding Bentley??

This is my vintage cranberry scoop. It is hanging in my kitchen underneath another vintage thingie. Bentley and I are very excited. We were given an award by Pets Direct in England. Thank you John for bestowing this award upon us. Bentley and I are very honored to accept your generosity. Please go visit Pets Direct and please don't forget to visit our lovely hostess, Suzanne, The Colorado Lady for another weekly Vintage Thingie Thursday.
Are you excited Bentley? Just think ~ an award from your homeland. If we could bypass the quarantine, Momma would book a trip for us to visit your homeland soon!! Wait a minute, you should start calling me Mum!

Those old school lunch boxes sure were cute!! It's my first week of school item for Vintage Thingie Thursday. I hope that Suzanne is having a fun and relaxing break!
Hey Bentley ... let's go shopping for some more vintage thingies today!

xxoo,
After an exciting morning of chicken removal from the front porch (see prior post), I am ready for a relaxing evening on the deck. A refreshing drink served from a vintage tray. I know ... it says Oregon and we live in Idaho, but I have not found an Idaho tray yet.
Help yourself to guacamole and chips and some crackers with chive and bacon spread.
We are grilling up some chicken to serve with corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and sugar snap peas on these cute vintage picnic dishes. Hey ... where's the flatware??
Isn't this a cute vintage butter dish that looks like an ear of corn? I found this set at a garage sale. It came with little corn salt and pepper shakers and little husks to serve the corn.
While I go inside to get some flatware, please stop by to visit The Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingie Thursday. Suzanne is on a bit of a vacation, but her VTT post is up. I am also linking up with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for her Tablescape Thursday.
A chicken update ... Thelma has been safely returned home after a delightful afternoon of free ranging in our yard. Bentley, however, is on patrol making sure that no more chickens hop the fence into HIS yard this evening! There he goes now, checking the fence line!!

It's Thursdsay ~ time for another Vintage Thingie! Here is my vintage clothespin apron. It's great to wear when I am out back hanging laundry on the line. It has one large pocket all the way across the apron so that I can stash lots of clothespins inside. And ...
It's cute too, which goes a long way with me! I laundered some of my vintage linens today. Here they are hanging outside in the hot late afternoon Idaho sun. At 2700 feet elevation, the sun is really intense. These linens will be completely dry in less than 1 hour!! I better not spend too much time out here.
Stop by and visit Suzanne, The Colorado Lady, for Vintage Thingie Thursday. I hope the weather is a bit cooler where she lives. It's supposed to be 102 here tomorrow!
No walkies tomorrow Bentley. We will be taking it easy in the shade!!

Hi girls! How about coming over to play some bridge this afternoon. The coffee is ready. Make yourself comfortable at my old card table. I just love this vintage card table cover, don't you?
Do you take cream and sugar or just black?
If you need a refresher course, don't worry. I have my Mom's old contract bridge books for reference.
Here are some vintage playing cards. Can't you just hear Lucy say, "Caroline when are you going to get some new cards?? We've been playing with these same dirty old cards for ages!!" Lucy said something like that to Caroline Appleby when Ethel, Ricky and Fred bet her $50.00 that she couldn't tell the truth for 24 hours!
Okay, take off your gloves girls and lets play cards!
It's been a while since I have played. Hand me those contract bridge books will you please?? While I am refreshing my memory ... have some more coffee and go visit Suzanne for Vintage Thingie Thursday and Susan's 100th posting of Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.
Don't peek at the other players cards Bentley, it is not fair!

Recipes from friends like my dear friend
Mary Kay. She still lives in NY
and I'm here in Idaho, but I'll always
remember baking Christmas Cookies together!!

Vintage cookie cutters and an old wooden spoon.
A cheery and vintage Christmas apron.

An old recipe box filled with treasured family favorites
The Christmas dishes we use every year.
I guess I'm just a sentimental girl,
but I love all the family traditions.
I suspect most of you do too!
Please go visit Suzanne for more Vintage Thingies!
Bentley, you love your old chewed up toys ~ they are your
very own Vintage Thngies!
